St. Cloud State University Rowing

Community Members

Welcome to the Saint Cloud State University Rowing webpage for community members! We are very excited to see your interest in the team. First, we would like to give you a brief background of the team. We are a club team at Saint Cloud State University and we are completely student run. The team size has varied from year to year, but over the past couple years we have seen an increase in the size of the team. The team is made up of a variety of majors and personalities.

One of the most exciting parts for the Saint Cloud State Rowing team is getting the community involved. In order to do this, we have a few times throughout the year that we invite all community members to come out and learn a little about the sport of rowing. Now you may be thinking to yourself "I don't know anything about rowing". Most people do not have any idea what the sport of rowing is, so this gives the Saint Cloud State Rowing team a chance to teach the community about the sport.

Each fall and spring, the team holds Community Learn to Row Day. Anyone who wants to learn how to row is welcome to come out. You will have the opportunity to go out on the water in one of our boats along with current rowing team members. While on the water, you will learn the basics of rowing, a few basic commands and most of all you will have a truly great time. For the young kids, instead of having the option to row, they can sit in with the coxswain. The coxswain issues the commands and steers the boat. Many kids have a great time doing this if they are too young to row. They especially get enjoyment out of making their parents work! Many people have enjoyed the experience so much, that they continue to come back each time we offer the chance. If you are interested in Community Learn to Row Day, please contact any of our Executive Board Members, located under the Contact Us page, with any questions you may have. Thank you for your interest in the Saint Cloud State University Rowing team. We look forward to seeing you out on the water!
